ECHOES OF THE EAST - On queer resilience from Białystok to Leipzig, Solidarity beyond national borders & Non Binary Joy

Białystok, Bautzen, Leipzig – what connects these places?
These are cities and communities where queer activists organize Pride events and face strong backlash from far-right and fascist groups. Whether small or large, these communities often find themselves up against growing anti-queer and far-right forces. But queer people don’t give up. They build networks of solidarity and create structures to resist violence.
How do they go on living after enduring waves of anti-queer and anti-trans violence that have swept across Europe and the world in recent years? How do they sustain their resilience? How do queer spaces survive? How do they organize? How do they break binaries and reclaim the streets with joy and defiance?
Together with invited activists and artists Filipka Rutkowska, Paweł Świerczek & The Empress (Śląsk Przegięty) Fayer Koch (bubble bar) we want to talk about their strategies and challenges – and about how networks of solidarity can be built across national borders.
