Based on their own family stories, the group understands “Upper Silesia” as a verb and a practice of disidentification that challenges linguistic norms and nationalism. As part of Manifesta 16+, Grupa Mauczka gathered artists from the Ruhrgebiet, Polska and beyond, to dive into the queer mess of Upper Silesia and share their hot takes on the art of śląsking.
